In the Gulf format, personal details - photo, date of birth, nationality, marital status, visa status - are not hidden but placed in a separate block at the end of the CV.

Gulf CV for applicants from Uzbekistan: format, photo and visa status
A CV for Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha or Riyadh is a one-column English document of up to two pages that openly lists your photo, nationality, current location, visa status and availability.
- Format: Gulf CV
- Language: English, Russian
- PDF and Word
In short
Recruiters and ATS software read the CV: one column, a plain font, and the job title and skills repeated word for word from the advertisement.
Official placement abroad goes only through the Migration Agency (xorijdaish.uz) and licensed agencies; never pay for a job.
Do you need a resume?
Yes
Recruiters and companies (ATS)
The CV is the first filter: Gulf format in English, with photo and visa status; applications usually pass through an ATS.
Helpful, not required
Xorijdaish.uz and intergovernmental recruitment
The application is completed on the platform; the employer may request a CV and experience certificates at selection stage.
Helpful, not required
Domestic staff - through agencies
The agency fills in its own form: photo, passport, short experience summary. A CV is an extra, but it does no harm.

Gulf CV format: section order
Employers across the Gulf - the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman - expect the same English structure, usually called a Gulf CV: name, target job title and contacts at the top (phone marked as WhatsApp), then a short profile, work experience in reverse order, education, certifications, skills, languages and a Personal Details block at the end. Up to two pages, single column, dates as «Jan 2024 – Present».
| Section | What to write | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Header and contacts | Name as in the passport, target job title, phone (WhatsApp), email, current city and country | Jasur Toshmatov - HVAC Technician - +998 90 000 00 00 (WhatsApp) - Tashkent, Uzbekistan |
| Profile Summary | 3-4 sentences: trade, years of experience, main equipment or sector, which market you are ready for | HVAC technician with 8 years of experience in hotels and commercial buildings |
| Work Experience | Latest job first: title, company, city, country, month and year; 3-5 result-based bullet points per job | HVAC Technician, Sharq Building Services, Tashkent - Mar 2021 – Present |
| Education | Qualification name, institution, years; a college diploma counts | Diploma in HVAC Systems, Tashkent Construction College, 2013 – 2016 |
| Certifications | Trade certificates, safety courses, licences: name, issuer, year | Refrigerant handling certificate, 2019 |
| Skills | Technical skills and soft skills as two separate lists, using the words from the advertisement | Chiller maintenance, split and VRF systems, preventive maintenance |
| Languages | Language and level: Native, Fluent, Intermediate or a CEFR level | English - Intermediate (B1), Russian - Fluent, Uzbek - Native |
| Personal Details | Nationality, date of birth, marital status, visa status, driving licence, availability or notice period | Nationality: Uzbekistan - Visa status: none - Availability: within 1 month |
The visa status line
Visa status is one of the first lines a recruiter checks. Four values are understood: visit visa (you are in the UAE on a tourist visa), employment visa (you currently work for another employer), cancelled visa (your previous visa was cancelled and you are job hunting) and none (you are in Uzbekistan without a visa). It tells the employer how quickly and at what cost you can start - never leave it empty or vague.
Photo and personal details
Unlike Europe and the United Kingdom, the Gulf treats personal details as a normal part of the CV: visa processing, accommodation and the labour contract depend on nationality, age, marital status and driving licence, so these lines are written openly in the last block.
- Photo: passport style, light background, head and shoulders, business attire; top right corner. No selfies or wedding pictures.
- Date of birth: in full, as «18 Jun 1993»; there is no need to state your age separately.
- Nationality: Uzbekistan. Do not put your passport number in the CV - it is requested at contract stage.
- Marital status: single or married - needed for family visa and accommodation planning.
- Driving licence: state the issuing country. A UAE or GCC licence is a real advantage; if yours is Uzbek, say so.
- Phone: international format marked WhatsApp - Gulf recruiters make first contact there.
A CV without a photo is usually set aside not by the ATS but by the recruiter. The rules are stricter here than in the German Lebenslauf, where a photo is optional.
Typical mistakes made by applicants from Uzbekistan
- Translating a Russian or Uzbek CV word for word: local job titles do not match English advertisements. Take the title from the advertisement: HVAC Technician, Waiter, Receptionist, Security Guard.
- A two-column, colourful, infographic template: ATS software misreads it. Use one column, a plain font and capitalised headings.
- One sentence such as «worked at the company» instead of duties. Give 3-5 bullet points per job: what you did, on which equipment or with how many guests, with what result.
- No visa status or current location: the recruiter cannot tell that you need to be brought in from Uzbekistan and skips the profile.
- A CV longer than three pages, with school, military service and every short course. Two pages is the limit.
- Expected salary on the CV: in the Gulf it is discussed at interview, not in the document.
- No experience certificates: ask previous employers for a letter stating your title, dates and duties - it is requested at visa and attestation stage.
How hiring works: official channels and recruiters
There are three routes into the Gulf. The first is organised recruitment by the Migration Agency of Uzbekistan: official vacancies on xorijdaish.uz and intergovernmental agreements; agreements with Saudi Arabia and Qatar were still being negotiated in 2025. The second is licensed private employment agencies listed on gov.uz/migration; they recruit on behalf of a company and ask for a CV themselves. The third is a direct application through the company website, LinkedIn, Bayt or GulfTalent, where the CV goes through an ATS.
Unlicensed «consulting» and Telegram offers of «a job in Dubai, pay for the place» are against Uzbek law: consulting disguised as job placement carries a fine of 112.5 million soum (spot.uz, 08.2025). Check an agency via the Migration Agency helpline +998 71 202-33-55. Overall, the Gulf is not a mass destination: according to gazeta.uz (17.08.2026), most of the 1.4 million Uzbek citizens working abroad are in Russia, the European region, Kazakhstan, Turkey and Korea, and the official flow to the UAE is much smaller. Compare destinations in the Chet elga section - Turkey, for example, has a different CV format and visa procedure.
Resum.uz is a document preparation tool: we help you write the CV and the letter, we do not deal with vacancies or visas and we do not publish job offers.
Language and certificates
The working language is English; for technical and service roles B1 is usually enough - understanding the advertisement, talking about yourself at interview, reading safety instructions. IELTS is rarely requested, but state your level honestly: the first interview is often a WhatsApp video call. Russian is an extra advantage in Dubai hotels, retail and tourism, so list it as Fluent; add Arabic even at beginner level.
Trade certificates go in their own section: electrical safety, working at height, food safety for hotels and restaurants, refrigerant handling, driving licence category. If a certificate is in Uzbek or Russian, translate its name into English and keep the original in brackets.
Degree, medical check and other documents
The CV is only the first step. After an offer the employer requests a document package for the employment visa; preparing it in advance saves weeks.
- Degree attestation: a diploma with an apostille or embassy attestation; for trade jobs a college diploma is enough, but it is verified too.
- GAMCA medical check: a mandatory examination for workers going to Gulf countries, done only at accredited clinics (gamca.org.sa).
- Police clearance certificate - through my.gov.uz, with an English translation.
- Experience certificates - from previous employers, in English or with a translation.
- A passport valid for at least 6 months and a passport-style photo; medical insurance is usually arranged by the employer.
This package is requested by the employer or the agency; nobody should ask you for an advance payment for a visa or a «place».
Building the CV in the resume builder
Fill in a standard resume for free in the builder, then switch to «Chet elga» mode and pick the Gulf format: the template places the photo, visa status, current location and availability in the expected spots and converts dates to «Jan 2024 – Present». The «Chet elga» package translates the CV into English with AI (this is not a certified translation), proofreads it and exports a Word file; «Chet elga+» adds a cover letter and a Russian version. Reread the translation before sending: job titles must match the advertisement. Profession examples are in the resume examples section.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a CV to work in Dubai?
Yes. When hiring goes through a recruiter, an agency or a company directly, the CV is the first filter: without it you never enter the ATS database. Only some domestic staff agencies use their own form instead. Via xorijdaish.uz the application is completed on the platform, but the employer may still request a CV and experience certificates.
What is the Gulf CV format?
It is an English CV in the layout Gulf employers expect: one column, up to two pages, a passport-style photo and a Personal Details block at the end with nationality, date of birth, marital status, visa status, driving licence and availability. The phone is marked WhatsApp and dates are written as «Jan 2024 – Present».
Is a photo required on a UAE CV?
Yes, in the Gulf a photo is standard. Passport style, light background, head and shoulders, business attire, placed in the top right corner. Recruiters often set aside a CV without a photo.
Which documents does an Uzbek citizen need to work in the UAE?
A passport valid for at least 6 months, a Gulf-format CV, a passport-style photo, a diploma with apostille or attestation, a GAMCA medical certificate, a police clearance certificate and experience certificates from previous employers. The employment visa is arranged by the employer; you never pay anyone for a place.
Where can Uzbek citizens look for jobs in the UAE?
On xorijdaish.uz, through licensed private employment agencies from the gov.uz/migration register, and directly with companies via their websites, LinkedIn, Bayt and GulfTalent. Resum.uz does not list vacancies or promise work - it only helps you prepare the documents.
Does Resum.uz place workers in Dubai?
No. Resum.uz is a document preparation tool: CV, translation and cover letter. Official placement abroad goes only through the Migration Agency (xorijdaish.uz) and the licensed agencies listed on gov.uz/migration.
Who translates the CV into English?
In the «Chet elga» package the translation is done by artificial intelligence and you edit it in the studio. It is not a certified translation: diplomas and certificates need an official translation done separately. After translating, compare job titles with the advertisement.
