Working in Turkey as an Uzbek citizen: how to write an özgeçmiş and when you need one

An Uzbek citizen going to work in Turkey needs it in two situations: when a company hires you officially with an e-İzin work permit - it is mandatory; when a family takes you on for home care through acquaintances - it is not required, but it builds trust. What an özgeçmiş is and how it differs from a regular CV

An özgeçmiş is the one- or two-page document Turkish employers expect. The structure is tabular, European style: section name or period on the left, content on the right. The main difference from an Uzbek resume is the «Kişisel Bilgiler» block (personal details): photo, date and place of birth, uyruk (nationality), medeni durum (marital status), for men askerlik durumu (military service status) and ehliyet (driving licence). In Turkey leaving these out looks odd. Experience is in reverse chronological order, from the latest job: period, position, employer, duties.

The language is Turkish or English. Small and medium businesses, families and care agencies read Turkish; international companies and hotel chains also accept English. A CV in Uzbek will not be read in Turkey, even though the languages are related. The table lists the sections with examples from the fictional sample on this page.

Photo, date of birth, marital status and military service

A photo is a normal part of an özgeçmiş: passport proportions (3×4 or 4×6), light background, head and shoulders, serious expression, plain clean clothes - not a selfie or a wedding picture. In care work the family looks at the photo closely, so it should be neat and friendly. Date and place of birth go in the «Doğum tarihi / yeri» line, nationality is «Özbekistan», marital status «Evli» (married) or «Bekâr» (single). Askerlik durumu for men: «Yapıldı» if you served in Uzbekistan, «Muaf» or «Yükümlü değil» if not; women write «Yükümlü değil» or skip the line.

• Phone: a Turkish number first if you have one; next to a «+998» number note that it has WhatsApp - employers in Turkey mostly write there.
• Address: the city and country where you are now; in Turkey - the ilçe (district) and city.
• Do not put passport, visa or ikamet (residence permit) numbers in the CV - they are given to the employer separately for the e-İzin application.
• Ehliyet (driving licence): category or «Yok».
• Religion, ethnicity and relatives are not listed; the relatives table from the Uzbek obyektivka form makes no sense in Turkey.

Typical mistakes made by candidates from Uzbekistan

• An Uzbek-style resume sent instead of an özgeçmiş: no personal details block, no photo - for a Turkish employer the document is incomplete.
• An inflated Turkish level. Uzbek and Turkish are related, but «I understand» and «I speak» are different things; state the level honestly on the A1-C2 scale.
• A vague position: «any job» or «bakıcı/temizlik/tekstil» in one line - one CV for one field.
• Experience limited to «worked»: for whom, how many people, what condition, which duties - be specific (a bedridden patient, 12-15 patients a day).
• Marital status and date of birth deliberately left out - in Turkey that is not privacy, it is an incomplete document.
• A passport photo or a phone selfie.
• Turkish text translated word for word with Uzbek sentence structure.
• No references: the phone number of the previous family or institution is half the trust in care work.

How hiring works in Turkey: visa, e-İzin, employer

Turkey is one of the major destinations for Uzbek workers: according to gazeta.uz (17.08.2026), 72 thousand citizens of Uzbekistan work there; according to TurkStat, Uzbeks made up 6.9 % of foreigners entering Turkey in 2025. Women mostly work in care, domestic work and textiles, men in services, textiles and construction.

The official route: work visa and e-İzin

For official hiring the employer applies for an e-İzin - a work permit for a foreigner - on calismaizni.gov.tr. You apply for a work visa at the Turkish consulate in Uzbekistan; your application is linked to the employer's application by a 16-digit reference number. A CV is mandatory in this channel: the employer first selects you and then adds your documents to their application. The özgeçmiş, a copy of the diploma, certificates and the passport are the basic set an employer asks for.

Through acquaintances: home care

In care and domestic work most people find a place through acquaintances, a previous employer's recommendation and compatriot chats. The family chooses by conversation and recommendation - a CV is not formally required. But a one-page özgeçmiş with a photo and references sets you apart from other candidates and makes the family more willing to arrange an official e-İzin. Working without a work visa is a risk: your rights are not protected. Turkish language and certificates

For Uzbeks Turkish is the quickest foreign language to learn, but the employer wants to see an exact level in the CV: the A1-C2 scale or «Başlangıç / Orta / İyi / Ana dil». A course or exam certificate goes in the «Sertifikalar» section with the organisation and date. In care work speaking Turkish is the job itself: you talk with the patient and the family every day. English is an extra advantage for hotels and international companies.

Professional certificates - a care course, nursing, sewing, cooking, driving licence categories - go in a separate section. A certificate obtained in Uzbekistan is not recognised automatically in Turkey, but listing it in the CV confirms your experience to the employer. What to do with your diploma

In an özgeçmiş the diploma is one line: institution, field, years. For official hiring the employer may ask for a copy of the diploma and a Turkish translation - do this only on request and in the way the employer specifies. In regulated professions such as medicine and education, diploma recognition is a separate procedure - clarify it in advance. In care, textiles and services it is experience and references that decide, not the diploma.
